We are looking for male & female volunteers aged between 18 & 65 to take part in a common cold study. You will need to visit our test centre in Edinburgh twice for this study. 

Volunteers who are recruited onto this study must be displaying one or more of the below common cold symptoms on visit one to take part.

These symptoms include:

  • Congestion (a blocked nose)
  • Sore
  • throat or
  • cough
  • or sneezing associated with a common cold.
  • Headaches or muscle aches associated with a common cold.
  • High temperature (more than 38C in adults).
  • Pressure
  • in the ears and face.
  • Loss of taste and smell.

You must be currently own a tub of Vicks VapoRub and you will need to bring this tub with you to your screening visit (this product tub can be empty or full).

Once you are enrolled in the study you will be given some Vicks VapoRub and asked to begin using the product immediately as per your normal usage habits when suffering from a common cold. You will also be asked to keep a daily diary sheet recording the dates, times and location of your applications of the product.

Once your cold symptoms have resolved you will be asked to contact the test centre on 08007561046 to make an appointment for visit 2.

You will be paid a £30 cheque in your name on completion of this study.
